Pathfinders

St Laurence Church Infant School is proud to work with Pathfinders. They are a collaborative programme supporting children and families facing adversity.

Pathfinders take a relationship-first approach to support, so that it is trusted and sustained (we don’t close cases). From this position of trust they can call in an ecosystem of specialist advisors, counsellors and supporters as needed.

Their approach is trauma-informed, relational, adaptive and strengths-based.

Pathfinders work through schools to make the most of the potential for long-term relationships. They develop and support school-based staff.

Pathfinder’s keystone values are nurture, social justice and shared authority. This means they support the leadership of the families.

Our allocated Pathfinder Worker is Lynwen Jones and works across both the Junior and Infant school Thursdays.

Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid (BSWAID)

We are working with BSWAID to deliver the “Bright Beginnings” violence preventative education programme.  This helps our children learn about self care, healthy relationships and and talking about their feelings.

Northfield Community Partnership

A charity helping people and community groups in South Birmingham, with links to support for food, housing, employment and more.

School Nurse Service

School nurses support children with health concerns which are impacting on their ability to participate fully in education.  They works closely with school staff, children and their parents or carers.

  • Early Help Edgbaston and Northfield Flyer – Support for all families living in the area.
  • Family Connect – Some families need support from more than one professional. Parents can self-refer for support by filling in this form. Birmingham can work together to connect you with the support you need for your familiy.
  • Route 2 Wellbeing – This website has lots of advice as to how to support your family’s health and wellbeing.
  • Solihull Approach Parenting Courses – Online parenting courses which are free for Birmingham residents using the code COMMUNITY.
  • The Waiting Room – A health and wellbeing online directory of services and organisations in Birmingham which can support families.
